Each year the participants in the St. Patrick's Day Parade compete for prizes. Each participating group is judged versus others in their same category: family, band, business, drill team, media, organization, trade or school. Quality and creativity prevails here. The bands and drill teams are judged on visual impact, quality of music and marchers in step. All other entries are judged on safety of entry, adherence to theme, originality of entry and visual impact. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category. The top voted participant receives the Grand Prize award which is a trip to Ireland!
A panel of judges is nominated and selected each year by the Parade Committee.
About a month after the Parade, the annual Awards Dinner is held to bestow the awards to the winners and generally have an "end of season" celebration.
